Buildings today have to do far more than meet statutory requirements. Energy efficiency, user comfort, sound insulation and sustainability determine the quality of a building for decades. Building physics analyses create transparency early and enable well-founded decisions during the design stage.
Building physics
Building physics influences energy consumption, indoor climate, acoustics and the long-term value of a building. Already at the design stage we develop solutions that combine comfort, sustainability and technical quality in the best possible way.

Challenges our clients face
Energy consumption
Design, technical and commercial requirements often conflict, which makes balanced planning difficult.
Noise nuisance
Poorly coordinated planning leads to changes during construction, schedule delays and additional cost.
Moisture damage
Spatial concepts often fall short of supporting workflows, user needs and future requirements.
Funding eligibility
Capital cost often dominates, while operation, energy consumption and maintenance receive too little attention.
:format(avif):quality(75))
We see building physics not as a downstream certificate, but as an active part of developing the building. Architecture, building physics and building services are coordinated early in order to optimise energy efficiency, comfort, sustainability and cost-effectiveness together. Digital simulation and calculation methods create a robust basis for decisions in every project phase.
Our capabilities

Energy efficiency
Energy efficiency comes from the interplay of building envelope, plant technology and use. Using energy calculations, thermal bridge analyses, certificates under the German Buildings Energy Act and energy and efficiency concepts, we develop buildings that meet statutory requirements and can be operated economically for the long term.

Moisture protection
Moisture is one of the most common causes of building damage. Using hygrothermal simulations we analyse heat and moisture transport in building components, assess critical constructions and develop permanently damage-free solutions – especially for demanding construction methods, timber construction and refurbishment projects.

Building acoustics
Sound insulation influences comfort, health and the quality of a building in use. We develop building acoustics concepts, prepare acoustic certificates and support projects from design through to measurement, taking applicable standards and project-specific requirements into account.

Room acoustics
Room acoustics determine speech intelligibility, concentration and the quality of a space. Using acoustic simulations, we develop room acoustic concepts for workplaces, educational facilities, healthcare buildings, event spaces and industrial buildings.

Life-cycle assessment
One third of Germany's CO2 emissions is attributable to the building sector. Alongside energy consumption in use, constructing the building is also responsible for a large share of emissions. To make your building climate-friendly and future-proof, we assess its entire life cycle using life-cycle analysis – from manufacture to demolition – in order to promote a sustainable circular economy.

Funding consultancy
Our team of energy efficiency experts supports your new build or refurbishment project by unlocking a wide range of German federal funding programmes (KfW and BAFA). Benefit for example from investment grants, repayment subsidies and funded consulting services. Our expert team is complemented by licensed DGNB auditors and consultants to advise you on sustainable construction.
